Dothan, AL
Home to a community of roughly 71,000 people, Dothan, Alabama is a vibrant town rich in culture. Yet until recently, free, outdoor access to the arts has been limited, with creative offerings largely centered indoors and within institutions. As part of a city-led downtown revitalization effort, the opening of the Porter Park Amphitheater, along with the launch of the Levitt AMP Dothan Music Series, marks a pivotal moment for transforming a once-underused space into a lively hub of public life.
Situated between the historic Dothan Civic Center and Dothan Opera House and surrounded by locally owned restaurants, shops, and nearby neighborhoods, as well as two large-scale murals commissioned by Art in Public Places, Levitt AMP Dothan is poised to become a destination for creativity, connection, and shared celebration.
Presented by Art in Public Places, a nonprofit working to build a thriving arts ecosystem in Alabama’s Wiregrass Region through public art and community-driven experiences, in partnership with Live at the Opera, the City of Dothan, and Tri-State Expo Juneteenth Affairs, Inc.
