Tallahassee, FL
As the former home of Florida’s historic May Day Festival, downtown Tallahassee’s Lewis Park has long been an iconic gathering space for community celebrations and joyful, shared experiences on the lawn in this city of roughly 108,000 residents. And yet, pandemic-era closures caused a sharp decline in community use and investment in the area, impacting the local economy and limiting opportunities for local gatherings and live music experiences. The Levitt AMP Tallahassee Music Series is reactivating this beloved downtown greenspace by introducing free concerts beneath its majestic live oak canopy.
Featuring local and regional artists across a range of genres, including blues, jazz, folk, and Americana, the series creates consistent opportunities for discovery, connection, and creative expression. Alongside community vendors, youth performances, and partnerships with local organizations, the free concerts create lively outdoor summer evenings while encouraging audiences to explore nearby restaurants, shops, and cultural destinations. In doing so, the series is restoring Lewis Park to its former pride of place and contributing to renewed energy in Tallahassee’s downtown core.
Presented by the Council on Culture & Arts (COCA), a nonprofit serving Florida’s capital region through the promotion and support of arts and cultural programming, in partnership with the Downtown Improvement Authority (DIA).
