Vicksburg, MS
A key destination along the Mississippi Blues Trail, Vicksburg holds a deep musical legacy shaped by the blues, gospel, country, and jazz traditions that define the region. The Levitt AMP Vicksburg Music Series honors that heritage by presenting free concerts in Washington Street Park, a central downtown gathering space home to farmers markets, civic celebrations and a new public art mural. By expanding access to free, high-caliber music in this visible, walkable setting, the series serves multigenerational audiences and broadens access to authentic Mississippi music in this city of roughly 20,000 residents.
Concerts feature local and regional artists across genres, with blues serving as a cultural throughline that connects Vicksburg’s past to its present. Integrated into existing community events—including Fourth of July festivities, Historic Art Festival, and Porchfest—the series is supporting nearby businesses, encouraging tourism, and reinforcing Vicksburg’s identity as a historic city with a thriving contemporary arts scene.
Presented by the Heritage Guild of Vicksburg Warren County, which champions local history by providing educational community programs that preserve the cultural and structural heritage of the Vicksburg area. Produced in partnership with the Vicksburg Main Street Program.
Funded in part by a partnership with the Mississippi Arts Commission, which combines a public art grant with a multi-year Levitt AMP Music Series matching grant to create vibrant community destinations. Learn more about the Foundation’s partnership with the state of Mississippi.
