Wooster, OH
At Wayne Center for the Arts, community leaders are helping reimagine how arts and neighborhood life come together. The Levitt AMP Wooster Music Series builds on this vision by bringing free, live music to the center’s front lawn—an open green space that once served as the neighborhood playground when the building operated as Walnut Street School. By welcoming residents back to this familiar ground, the series reconnects neighbors from across this city of roughly 27,000 with a place that has long been part of the community’s story while introducing new opportunities to gather through music.
Levitt AMP Wooster invites people of all backgrounds and ages to join together for performances spanning reggae, funk, indie rock, Latin, soul, alt-country, jazz fusion, and more. Local and regional artists share the stage with touring performers, creating vibrant, multigenerational audiences and expanding access to live cultural experiences in a rural region where transportation and cost can often limit participation. As music fills the lawn, the space takes on new life as a neighborhood meeting point—supporting the SoLi neighborhood’s ongoing revitalization and reminding residents from throughout the town how shared public spaces can strengthen connection, creativity, and community pride.
