SPRINGFIELD, IL

The Levitt AMP Springfield Music Series, presented by Springfield Area Arts Council, has ushered in a lively new era for a vacant space with historic significance.

Since 2019, the Levitt AMP Springfield Music Series has fostered meaningful connections and transformed the formerly vacant “Y Block” into a community-wide destination all summer long. After witnessing the success of the former Levitt AMP Music Series in nearby Jacksonville, Ill., community members of the 120,000-populated Springfield worked to reimagine the downtown public space and inspire local residents to visualize the historic site’s potential. The Levitt AMP Music Series grant has enabled the local community in this state capital to create a space into something usable for all and attract a broad range of the community to share in a celebrated experience. Levitt AMP Springfield continues to bridge historic divides by gathering community members from all walks of life to enjoy free, live music and build a shared vision for this long-dormant public space in the heart of downtown Springfield.
