Music connects us.Music inspires us.Music creates community.

We believe access to the arts and open green space are fundamental human rights.

Through our grantmaking and research, the Levitt Foundation leverages the power of free, live music to strengthen the social fabric of communities, creating places people love while amplifying local pride, injecting joy into underused public spaces and fostering more equitable, healthy and thriving communities one city, and one concert, at a time.

We remain committed to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), recognizing these values as essential to realizing the Levitt mission to bridge divides, inspire hope and strengthen communities.

The Power Of Music

The Power Of Music

As the universal language, music connects us, nourishes our well-being, and brings people together for a shared experience that builds community.

For nearly two decades, the Levitt Foundation has helped local nonprofits bring thousands of free outdoor concerts to millions of people nationwide through Levitt’s programs of free outdoor music series.

Featuring open lawn settings with no front or back row, friends, families and neighbors of all ages and backgrounds gather on Levitt lawns across the country to experience free music under the stars featuring acclaimed and award-winning artists in a broad range of music genres and cultural performances.

The Power Of Public Space

The Power Of Public Space

At their best, public spaces are places where everyone feels like they belong.

Where neighbors meet and strangers easily interact, where voices are expressed and communities gather to heal, a tangible realization of our collective resiliency. The need for more third places—those informal gathering spots outside the realms of home and the workplace—has become increasingly clear in today’s world of polarizing discourse and social disconnect.

We believe inclusive public spaces are an equalizer and lie at the heart of our democracy – the key to strengthening the social fabric of communities. The Levitt Foundation has supported the activation of nearly 50 underused public spaces across the country, creating joyous, equitable places where people connect and embrace their shared humanity.

The Power Of Free

The Power Of Free

Studies show that frequent engagement with the arts has remarkably positive effects on our individual well-being, as well as society as a whole.

However, the average American’s ability to regularly access the arts is out of reach. High premiums are often placed on cultural activities like going to a museum, experiencing live theater, or attending a concert.

Levitt concerts feature critically acclaimed and award-winning artists, free of charge. Throughout a Levitt concert season, people of all socioeconomic circumstances—many of whom typically cannot afford the cost of a concert for themselves or their families—have multiple opportunities to enjoy cultural experiences essential to a healthy, joyous life.

Our vision is an America filled with equitable, healthy, and thriving public spaces, creating community and human connections that extend into daily life. Learn more about our Mission & Core Values, How We Do It, What We Fund and Levitt Locations.
